Inhale, Exhale

I am a yogi. A yogi snob to be exact. I have been practicing at Yoga Vida for about eight years. Rarely do I go anywhere else. In the past, months have gone by without stepping onto my mat, but lately I've had weekly dates with Yoga Vida. I'm in love with Yoga Vida, even more now that they have their second studio at 7th and Rio Grande. People of all shapes and sizes practice at YV, however, this is not the place for people who have never heard of downward dog in their life. Most of the classes are an hour long, the absolute perfect amount of time. Being an hour long, though, the practice is fast and it flows beautifully.

Not only is my hour practice a hardcore workout, but it is honestly one of the few times I do not have my cell phone. I seriously take my phone everywhere- the movies, meals, baths, and even to bed. Yes, I've picked up the great habit of turning my phone off when I sleep, but it's always on the bedside table patiently waiting for my touch.

Through out the hour practice, I am constantly reminded to inhale and exhale. Exhaling is something I am great with. You'll hear me exhaling (similar to a sigh of relief) through out the day and for no real reason. Inahling, though, is something I think very few of us take the time to do. Just to stop and breathe is more therapeutic than most can imagine. And having someone order me for an hour to stop and breathe is absolutely amazing.

My recommendation: Attending the noon class from 12-1pm. This way you'll start off your day with a healthy meal so that you're ready for mid-day yoga and then you'll be inspired to have a fresh, healthy lunch after your practice. It's a perfect start and break for your day.
